Love has always been there: Ana Hickmann and Edu Guedes get married after 22 years of friendship

Comadre, it sounds like a movie story, but it's real life! After more than two decades of friendship, challenges and reunions, Ana Hickmann and Edu Guedes said "yes" in a ceremony marked by faith, family and gratitude to life.
From work to a love story
There are encounters that do not happen when two people meet. They are prepared by life, time and the experiences that each one needs to go through. The story of Ana Hickmann and Edu Guedes is exactly like that.
The presenters met more than 22 years ago and shared the mornings of Brazilian television. Between 2005 and 2009, they worked together on the program Hoje em Dia, on Record. They grew professionally, built a relationship of friendship and respect, but in that period, each one followed their own path.
What no one could imagine is that, many years later, that friendship would turn into love.
A reunion at a difficult time
The rapprochement took place at the end of 2023, during a delicate phase of Ana's life. After the repercussion of the complaints of domestic and property violence made by the presenter against her ex-husband, Edu tried to contact her to find out if she was okay.
Ana had changed her phone number, but he did not give up. He looked for the presenter's sister, got the new contact and the two started talking. There were days of long conversations, some lasting two or even four hours.
The old friendship turned into welcoming. Then came a dinner and, finally, the first kiss — which, according to Ana, was "stolen" by her.
During the vows at the altar, the presenter revealed that she felt like a teenager again and recognized something that time took to show: the love of her life had already been close to her for many years. Metropolis
Dating, engagement and a new family
Ana and Edu publicly assumed their relationship in March 2024. In September of that same year, they celebrated their engagement in an intimate ceremony for approximately 50 guests.
In 2025, they made their civil union official. But the great dream still remained to be fulfilled: to receive the religious blessing in front of their children, family and friends.
On September 12, 2026, that moment finally arrived.
A "yes" under a centennial fig tree
The religious ceremony was held at Fazenda Casa Gialla, the couple's historic property located in Araras, in the interior of São Paulo. The wedding took place in front of about 150 guests, under the canopy of a century-old fig tree with approximately 300 square meters.
Ana arrived at the altar accompanied by her son, Alezinho. Edu made his entrance alongside his daughter, Maria. The presence of the two children showed that that wedding did not only represent the union of a couple, but also the construction of a new family.
The Catholic celebration was led by Monsignor Boanerges Bueno. In one of the most emotional moments, Ana declared that God had put Edu in her life to take care of her, hug her when she cried, and make her feel joy again.
The phrase that summarized her vows was simple, but loaded with meaning:
"You didn't give up on me."
Edu gets emotional when remembering the fight for life
If Edu was by Ana's side in her reconstruction process, she also remained by his side when life presented a new and painful ordeal.
In 2025, the presenter was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and faced surgeries and a long period of hospitalization. In his wedding vows, Edu cried as he recalled the days when he was afraid to sleep because he didn't know if he would wake up the next morning.
He thanked his wife for staying by his side, transmitting strength and hope in moments of pain. According to Edu, Ana helped him believe in life on a daily basis and played a key role in his recovery.
Moved, he ended his statement by reaffirming his gratitude and love forever. Portal Leo Dias
A celebration full of meaning
Every detail of the wedding told a little of the history of the bride and groom. The Casa Gialla Farm, with buildings dating back to 1820, was restored to host the celebration and even gained an Italian villa specially built for the event.
The decoration had 500 Murano crystals, distributed by the candy table, lighting and a hanging garden. Some pieces were named after important women for the family, such as Ana, Reni — the presenter's mother —, Maria and Leila, Edu's mother.
Ana personally participated in the landscaping and also got her hands dirty in the preparation of details such as fans and personalized napkins.
The couple also offered guests an exclusive wine, called Château Eclipse Noir, produced with nine varieties of grapes. The number nine has a special meaning in Edu's sports career.
Elegance and personality at the altar
Ana wore two dresses created by designer Vitor Zerbinato, marking different moments of the celebration. She also followed the tradition of taking with her something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
The jewelry in white gold and blue topazes was signed by jeweler Rosana Chinche. The antique item was represented by a diamond ring, while the dress symbolized the new beginning.
Edu chose a tailor-made suit from Hugo Boss, and the couple's rings were acquired during a trip to Portugal.
After the ceremony, the party gained an atmosphere of nostalgia with the performance of the Italian band Double You, as well as DJ Cesar Damasceno. CNN Brasil
