Globo confirms cast of "Avenida Brasil 2"; see who will be in the soap opera
Comadre, pulls up your chair, sits in the front row and prepares your soap opera heart, because the Projac bell rang loudly this Tuesday (15) and TV Globo finally put its cards on the table! In a carousel publication on social networks, the network made official the first 18 names confirmed in the stellar cast of Avenida Brasil 2, the long-awaited sequel written by João Emanuel Carneiro that hits the screens in January 2027 to replace Quem Ama Cuida.
The official confirmation brings no less than nine consecrated veterans of 2012 back to the spotlight of the noble belt. In the spotlight are Adriana Esteves reviving Carminha, Débora Falabella as the determined Nina, Murilo Benício in the role of Typhoon and Cauã Reymond as Jorginho. The iconic family mansion is still masterfully represented by the returns of Eliane Giardini in the role of Muricy, Marcos Caruso as Leleco and Letícia Isnard giving life to Ivana, in addition to Juliano Cazarré playing the unforgettable Adauto Chupetinha.
Closing the veterans' wing is Karol Lannes, who signed a contract after a huge mobilization of the public to resume her classic character Ágata in adulthood. The casting generated a strong debate behind the scenes, as the network even tested other artists, including Débora Ozório, but the revolt of internet users against the replacement spoke louder, guaranteeing the young woman the triumphant return to TV.
In the wing of the nine novelties confirmed by the network to renew the narrative, talents such as Cris Vianna, Jéssica Ellen, Thalita Carauta, Thomás Aquino, Thiago Rodrigues, Drico Alves, Ernani Moraes, Ravel Andrade and Roberto Bomfim emerge. Although the roles of most of the new members are still being kept under wraps, the backstage continues to buzz with other bets under negotiation.
Patrícia Pillar was previously mentioned as an option to give life to the main villain after refusals from veterans such as Taís Araújo and Ana Paula Arósio. At the same time, Duda Wendling is quoted to play the girlfriend of a soccer player, while strong rumors point out that Mel Maia, the little Rita of the first phase in 2012, would be quoted to return in a totally new character, assuming the role of the new periguete of the story in the vacuum left by the absence of the unforgettable Suelen.
On the other hand, the carousel released by the network confirmed what many feared: heavy absences that will change the dynamics of the serial. Isis Valverde reiterated that she does not return to revive Suelen, joking on Altas Horas that the character would be stressed taking care of five children at home. José de Abreu was not considered and reinforced that Nilo died in the original plot, as well as Marcello Novaes, made unfeasible by Max's tragic outcome.
The traditional core of Cadinho was also completely left out: Alexandre Borges and Nathalia Dill are busy with the cast of Quem Ama Cuida, Camila Morgado was reserved for Lá na Minha Terra and the roles of Carolina Ferraz as Aléxia and Débora Bloch as Verônica will not be reused. Names like Débora Nascimento (Tessália) and José Loreto (Darkson) are not on the official list.
Even occasional participations faced impasses: Vera Holtz even opened negotiations for a farewell to Mãe Lucinda in the first chapters, but the talks did not go ahead. The hairdresser Monalisa, played by Heloísa Périssé, remains out of the official announcement, although backstage negotiations remain open to try to guarantee a special participation of the diva.
